Spider-Man Brand New Day’s Trailer Has Done the Impossible: One Billion Views and Counting

It seemed impossible — but Spider-Man: Brand New Day has done it. Its trailer, released on March 17, has crossed one billion views, becoming the first movie trailer in the history of cinema to achieve this extraordinary milestone. WaveMetrix confirmed 1.1 billion views by Tuesday, just four days after the trailer debuted, and the record is still climbing.

The 24-hour viewership alone was historic at 718.6 million views. No trailer had previously come close: Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl debut had collected 365 million, Spider-Man: No Way Home had generated 355.5 million, and Grand Theft Auto VI’s 475 million had been considered an all-time high. Brand New Day made all of those numbers look small by comparison.

The billion-view crossing is a first for all forms of entertainment, not just film. It represents the most successful promotional launch in the history of digital media. Brand New Day is alone at the top, and its position looks untouchable.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and set for a July 31 release, Brand New Day continues the story of No Way Home’s $1.9 billion-grossing Peter Parker. The ensemble cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando. The film will release in six languages in India.

The trailer’s heart was its portrayal of a deeply human Peter Parker — alone, unknown, yet unbroken. The response from fans was enormous, spanning heartfelt social media posts and humorous alternative titles. With a July 31 premiere on the way, Brand New Day is ready to change cinema once more — this time on the biggest screens in the world.
