Kazakhstan and Germany have committed to enhancing their economic collaboration, focusing on several key sectors including investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. This commitment was solidified during discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29.
Describing Germany as a crucial strategic partner in Europe, President Tokayev highlighted the significant progress in bilateral relations over the past 30 years. The discussions underscored the importance of economic cooperation, with Tokayev proposing the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This initiative aims to support joint projects and facilitate investments between the two nations.
During his visit, President Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to explore potential partnerships in various sectors such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. A key topic was the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the modernization of railway infrastructure, which are vital for expanding Kazakhstan’s manufacturing capabilities.
The dialogue also included exploring opportunities for German companies to participate in Kazakhstan’s industrial and infrastructure projects, potentially providing them with greater access to the broader Central Asian market. This collaboration could significantly enhance trade and economic ties between the two countries.
As both nations seek to deepen their economic ties, the proposed initiatives reflect a strategic effort to leverage mutual strengths and foster long-term economic growth and cooperation.
